History Wesleyan Academy is a ministry of First Wesleyan Holiness Church, 9-1 Contant, St. Thomas, United States Virgin Islands. This non-profit organization has been serving the public in a Christian environment since 1969. The official date of its inception is September 8, 1970, under the leadership of Reverend and Mrs. James Campau and Mrs. Edez David who started the school of six kindergartners in her home. The school since then has developed into an all-grade school (K4-12th grade). It held its first eighth grade graduation of seven students in 1979 and in 1983 held its first high school graduation of four students, two of whom gained early admission to the then College of the Virgin Islands. we continue to enroll students in the early admission program at the University of the Virgin Islands. Added to this humble beginning was Miss Doreen Mary Brown, a native of Michigan, United States of America. This dedicated woman allowed the Lord to intercept her life; left her family, loved ones, friends, and the security of home, and came to St. Thomas in January 1971, to serve as principal of this fine institution, which we now call Wesleyan Academy. Her thirty years of labor, love, commitment, and academic excellence have not gone in vain. We give God the glory for her vision and the academic and spiritual foundation she has laid. |
